Not in Mathura?
2 h 40 min, starting at sunset.
Nirnaya Sindhu quotes Vyasa: “trimuhūrtaḥ pradoṣaḥ syād bhānāv astaṃ gate sati”, that is, Pradosh is the three muhurtas after the sun has set. Three of the night's fifteen muhurtas are its first fifth, worked out from this city's own sunset.
Why Pradosh begins at 5:25 PM in Mathura
Sunset, and with it Pradosh, comes at the same minute in Mathura as in New Delhi (5:25 PM). Mathura lies 0.5° east of New Delhi. The Earth turns through that in about 2 minutes, so on longitude alone the sun sets 2 minutes earlier here. Mathura's latitude takes back 2 minutes of that: it changes the length of the day and of the night.
